GolfBet ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application for tracking golf rounds and social betting with friends. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: When you sign up (email/password, Google, or Apple), we store an account identifier and, if you provide it, your email address and display name.
• Profile data: Optional information you add in the app, such as handicap index.
• Rounds and scores: Rounds you create or join, hole scores, and betting results. This data is shared with other players in the same round.
• Friends: If you use the friends feature, we store friend links and friend requests (emails/identifiers involved).
• Device and usage: Our hosting and analytics providers may collect general usage data (e.g. IP address, device type) as described in their policies.

2. How we use your information

We use your data to:

• Provide and secure the app (authentication, rounds, live scoring, friends).
• Store and sync your rounds and profile so you can use the app across sessions.
• Show relevant information to other players in your rounds (e.g. names, scores).
• Comply with law and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Who we share data with

• Other users: Other players in a round can see your display name and scores for that round. Friends can see your display name and email (or what you've shared).
• Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and hosting, and we use our own servers and databases to run the app. These providers process data on our behalf under agreements that limit use to providing the service.

4. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and round data until you delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. For more details, see our account deletion page.

5. Security

We use industry-standard practices (e.g. encrypted connections, secure authentication) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
